The Locations & Harvest

Satoshi’s Mocha Java Blend Coffee uses top grade beans from Bali, Indonesia and Guji, Ethiopia.

We use Organic Bali Blue Moon as the Java portion of the blend. The island of Bali received a rejuvenation of coffee production from the Indonesian government in the 1970s & 1980s. As a result, many farmers throughout the entire island participate in coffee agriculture.

These trees grow between 1100 and 1500 meters above sea level. The farmers harvested the cherries between May and July of 2021, and the beans shipped to the US in late fall 2021. The varietal is Bourbon & Typica. The milling process is wet-hulled and the beans dry on patios.

For the other portion of our blend, we use Ethiopian Natural Guji. Farmers harvested these coffee cherries at elevations between 1100-2200 MASL. Natural processing removes the fruit pulp from the ripe cherries. With a natural process, the cherries will fully dry within raised beds with the skin on, which means both the fruit pulp and sugars provide the beans with flavors as part of their development.

The harvest occurred between November-December of 2021 and the coffee shipped in the summer of 2022. Our variety is Ethiopian heirloom, which basically is used as a catch-all name for wild Ethiopian coffee. Cross-cultivation naturally happens here, therefore, each town and location has a very different and unique profile.

Satoshi’s Mocha Java Blend Coffee

Mocha Java is a locally roasted, deliciously smooth coffee that is full-bodied and rich.  A complimentary balance between an earthy coffee and one that is rich and fruity. You will taste notes of strawberry, dark chocolate, cedar, molasses, & vanilla. We think you will enjoy Satoshi’s blend!
